About Us

We want to change the perception of traditional pilates and show that our form can create body changing experiences and that it is respected as one of the hardest most challenging forms of exercise.

So we do things a little differently to your standard pilates class.  Forget holistic, slow, soul searching pilates and think body enhancing, muscle trembling dynamic reformer pilates.

Returning from London Jane and Lane bring to NZ the latest fitness craze amongst the world’s most famous.

We deliver exercise just as we did in London because we don’t see why New Zealanders should just read about it in a magazine.  We have had the experience to train the famous, to create the bodies of celebrities such as Claudia Schiffer, Jemima Khan, Trinny Woodall and Mario Testino (yes we just name dropped for effect), and we want to share it with you.

We want to change the perception of traditional pilates and show that our form can create body changing experiences and that it is respected as one of the hardest most challenging forms of exercise.

The result is the toning of long, lean muscles FAST by combining exercise and stretching into your routine.  Our dynamic approach is more intense, based on the ‘isolate, fatigue, stretch principle’, or in laments terms ‘find it (muscle), thrash it (exhaust it), stretch it.  Integrating into this a combined weight training programme our approach is designed to slim figures, improve posture and build toned muscles, fast, because we haven’t got all year right?

Reform combines controlled functional exercises, focusing on the duration of muscle activity to achieve fatigue, opposed to load (common in gym settings).  Aimed at full body workouts, opposed to focusing on one muscle group per exercise, reformer pilates provides an intense session that is easy on the joints, and will guarantee to have you screaming for more.

You won’t find anything like it in New Zealand.

STAFF PROFILES

Lane Gibson

Director & Master Trainer

Lane spent two years in London working for London’s most prestigious and recognized dynamic pilate studio, where he was one of the most experienced and respected trainers.

He has trained the likes of Jemima Khan, Alice Hart-Dans, Nick Gill overseas and has put a few of the All Blacks through their paces here at the studio.

Lane is one of the only males trained to deliver this type of exercise and this level in NZ and he will show the male population that pilates is not for the light hearted.  He has worked to develop the Reform Academy and is one half of the team to create Reform Fitness and Rehabilitation.

Lane holds a degree in Physical Education majoring in exercise prescription from Otago University and has been trained through the rigorous Tenpilates Academy; he is REP trained in indoor cycling and has a wealth of knowledge in the field of exercise and fitness.

Not shy of exercise himself, Lane has played representative rugby in New Zealand and overseas.  Lane was contracted to Italy for 2 years to play professional rugby and played semi professional rugby in the UK before returning home to his New Zealand roots.

He brings a wealth of experience for all levels and will guarantee a challenge every session.

Jane Gibson

Director & Master Trainer

Jane attended AUT on a netball scholarship and graduated with a degree in health science majoring in Occupational Therapy and a diploma in sports massage.

Jane is the other half of the team to create Reform Fitness and Rehabilitation.

After doing her time in New Zealand, Jane spent two years in London working for a number of London’s top public and private specialised rehabilitation units.  She was introduced to reformer pilates whilst in London and immediately developed a passion for it.

Jane completed further studies at one of London’s top massage schools and achieved additional papers in injury treatment and prevention to add to her diploma in sports massage.  She specialised in Hand Therapy and Upper Limb while in London to add to her rehabilitation credits.  She has a passion for exercise based rehabilitation and has worked with a number of complex cases using the reformer as a means of strengthening and conditioning.

Also a keen exercise and sports enthusiast Jane has represented Taranaki and Western at NPC level, North Harbour at age group and development level and played in the National Bank Cup for Western Flyers in netball.  She has also played representative touch rugby for Taranaki, NZ University, and NZ London teams.

At reform Jane has found a niche where she can combine all her skills and sporting experiences to benefit others.

David Enticott

Master Trainer / Nutritional Advisor

David is a Personal Trainer, Advanced Fitness Instructor, and Weight Management & Nutrition Advisor, Certified by both the European Register of Exercise Professionals (EREP’S) and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).

David holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the West of England and of course has qualified through the rigorous Reform Academy in Reformer Pilates.

He is continuously engaging in studies to increase his knowledge to provide evidence based exercise and nutrition prescription.  There are not many questions this man can’t answer.

David can guide and assist clients in all facets of fitness and nutrition from fat loss and lean muscle gain, to core conditioning and sport specific training.  He is our nutrition guru and can provide programmes for sport specific conditioning, general health and wellbeing, weight loss and weight gain.

David enjoys and participates in many sports most notably snowboarding, surfing and football.  Having completed winter seasons in the French and Austrian Alps and summer seasons surfing in South West France, David has particular knowledge regarding snow and surf fitness.

Lacey Barnett

Trainer

Lacey is a New Zealand trained and registered osteopath, and the newest graduate of the Reform Academy. Passionate about movement, Lacey believes encouraging appropriate movement patterns is crucial in preventing and managing injury once return to exercise is appropriate.

Lacey brings with her a wealth of knowledge in anatomy, physiology and biomechanics, having completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Biology and a Master of Osteopathy. During her studies, she completed a promising thesis investigating the effects of breathing retraining and osteopathic treatment on endurance exercise performance. Harnessing her knowledge and clinical experience, Lacey can help guide clients through injury management, general conditioning, sport specific conditioning and performance enhancement and prehabilitation.

A keen sportswoman herself, Lacey has previously competed at representative level in both hockey and track and field before hanging up her boots to focus on university. It was here that Lacey discovered Reform Fitness and how this form of training could help combat poor posture and movement habits developed from a sedentary lifestyle; in addition to keeping her strong enough to continue her other pursuits such as snowboarding, gym work and diving.

Elijah Hackney-Rose

Trainer

Eli qualified as a Personal Trainer and Gym Instructor with Premier Global Training in the UK; Prior to this, he gained a BTEC National Diploma in Sport after two years of study and has undergone rigorous training in our unique form of Dynamic Reformer Pilates.

Eli specialises in team and small group training with extensive experience coaching elite junior baseball players while himself being a member of the Great Britain National Baseball team. His time with the GB team saw him work with National level Strength and Conditioning specialists, Physiotherapists and team Coaches.
