COVID-19 Info and FAQs

Updated 19 November 2021

What’s happening with our studios?

  • Our Auckland studios, Newmarket, Takapuna and Parnell, will be re-opening when the Auckland region moves to the new COVID-19 Protection Framework (the traffic light system) which is anticipated to be shortly after 29 November 2021.
  • Our Cambridge, Mount Maunganui and Christchurch studios are currently open and operating under Level 2 protocols. We understand that these regions are likely to move to the traffic light system around the same time that Auckland does.

What will change for Reform under the traffic light system?

All Reform studios are classified as a ‘gym’ under the traffic light system. Accordingly, under the Red or Orange settings, Reform will require vaccination certificates from all clients and instructors to be able to operate. Under the Green setting, gyms are permitted to operate without vaccination certificates from clients and instructors provided that capacity restrictions and 1m physical distancing are implemented.

Will Reform require clients to be vaccinated against COVID-19?

Yes – to be able to operate under the Red and Orange settings, we will be requiring all clients to provide us with proof of their vaccination certificate.

How do I provide Reform with proof of my vaccination certificate?

You will need to create an account on My Covid Record and generate a My Vaccine Pass which will be emailed to you. This will contain a QR that stores your name and the expiry date (which is 6 months from when your pass is generated). When you next come into the studio, we will use the NZ Pass Verifier App to verify your My Vaccine Pass. We are waiting for more detailed guidance about the rules around clients emailing us their My Vaccine Pass. We will update this page once we receive further guidance on this option.

How will Reform record clients’ vaccination certificate information?

If you give us permission to do so, we will record that we have verified your My Vaccine Pass in our system and the expiry date so that you don’t need to present it to us each time you come to the studio. The collection and keeping of your My Vaccine Pass details will be solely for the purpose of implementing our COVID-19 policy and will be held in accordance with our privacy policy.

What if I’m not vaccinated?

We fully respect each person’s decision regarding the COVID-19 vaccination. We’re working on how we can provide some alternative options for our clients who choose not to be vaccinated. Feel free to get in touch if you have any ideas!

Will all Reform workers be fully vaccinated?

Yes – under the Red and Orange settings, all Reform workers will be fully vaccinated and are required to provide us proof of their vaccination certificate.

Do I need to wear a mask?

We are awaiting full guidance on the use of masks in gyms under the traffic light system. At this stage, we ask that you wear a mask when entering and exiting the studio. You do not need to wear a mask while exercising.

Will all Reform workers be wearing a mask?

Again, we are awaiting full guidance on the use of masks for instructors under the traffic light system. At this stage, all of our instructors will be wearing a mask while in the studio, including while teaching. However, we will provide an update once full guidance is released.

What protocols will Reform be using to keep clients safe?

  • Trainers will be washing their hands before and after every session.
  • Hand sanitiser will be available for clients before and after every session.
  • We will be utilising studio space effectively to increase physical distance between Reformers.
  • Each Reformer will have its own independent cleaning products for clients to thoroughly clean all equipment used after their class.
  • Wiping down all high touch surfaces/reception area regularly throughout the day.
  • Compulsory sweat towel and drink bottle policy.
  • Removal of disposable cups from water coolers.
  • If a trainer or client who has attended the studio has a confirmed case of COVID-19 we will temporarily close the studio for cleaning as per government policy.
  • We will be refraining from physical touch under the red light setting, and instead use precise verbal cues to amend independent technique where needed in class settings.
  • Client tracking will be undertaken through our online systems however you are also encouraged to scan in using the QR code posters at each studio.

What can you do?

  • If you are unwell, stay at home.
  • Sanitise your hands before and after your workout.
  • Keep physical distance from others when in studio as per government protocols.
